GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) will provide direct assessment and therapy to the Native Americans and residents of Lassen County. The LCSW is responsible for the coordination of
the Family Service’s program goals, objectives, services and management. The LCSW will work with individuals and their families, or with groups and is involved in helping clients with their issues. Issues may include mental health, emotional, school and medical social work, marriage counseling or children and family therapy, substance abuse, addiction, prevention and rehabilitation. The LCSW may hold classes, workshops or group meetings. Will coordinate activities with other agencies and represent the clinic as a human service professional.
This position works with and around our children and youth and is therefore subject to P.L. 101-630.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides direct assessment, therapy, marital, individual, extended family and group counseling. Provides limited availability for emergency response and evening appointments.
2. Maintains updated client records and creates treatment plans.
3. Coordinates a comprehensive Mental Health and Social Services care plan that includes traditional Indian healing methods.
4. As requested by tribal officials, provides input/assistance with Indian Child Welfare Act clients with ICWA Coordinator.
5. Creates and implements diversion, prevention, and rehabilitation activity programs.
6. Complies with scope of work for Mental Health/Family Services as established by Indian Health Service and other grants and contracts. Follows all applicable State and Federal Laws in clinical practice.
7. Actively participates in the CMT (Case Management Team) meetings.
8. Regularly (once per year) updates or writes and reviews policies and procedures for the Family Services Department.
9. Plans and conducts community education on mental health related issues and provides limited crisis intervention.
10. Participates in the LIHC committees (such as QI, Case Management, Safety, etc.) to provide input into the overall functions of the organization.
11. Comply with all HIPAA regulations and other related confidentiality policies, procedures and regulations.
12. Provides in-home visits and/or crisis evaluations as needed.
13. Counsels clients to gain access to various resources and to confront issues that are negatively affecting their way of living such as poverty, abuse, mental health and addiction.
14. Responsible in interviewing families, individuals and groups to assess their needs as well as develop appropriate response plans.
15. Refer clients to community services or health care professionals.
16. Builds strong rapport with clients and making accurate assessments of their problems.
17. Consults with physicians, medical professionals and therapists when appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, Sociology or Psychology.
2. Must be a currently Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California.
3. Three (3) to five (5) years counseling experience in a clinical setting in the social services/mental health field.
4. Must have knowledge of Indian Child Welfare Act.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with low-income groups and culturally diverse people.
6. Must be able to work and relate to Native Americans.
7. Must have experience making clinical assessments and treatment plans, progress reports, show competence while engaging in therapy, capably run therapy groups, and demonstrate familiarity with family therapy.
8. Must have experience working with community agencies and/or Lassen Indian Health Clinic/Susanville Indian Rancheria departments and staff.
9. Must be able to work independently and have self-motivation.
10. Must have a valid driver’s license.
11. Must pass P.L. 101-630 background check.
12. Must pass pre-employment drug test and agree to random drug testing.

WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT:
1. PHYSICAL SAFETY: The work requires minor physical exertion, such as short periods of standing, walking over rough uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require recurring lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity.
2. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as weather, body fluids, toxic laboratory and industrial chemicals, or confined, dirty and noisy locations. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.

• Any attitude or behavior that will tarnish the name or reputation of the Susanville Indian Rancheria will not be tolerated and is subject to disciplinary action.

1st Preference: Enrolled member of a Federally Recognized Tribe.
2nd Preference: Documented proof of Veteran Status, i.e. DD-214, Veterans Benefit Card.
3rd Preference: Non-Native applicant.
