Community Services Officer – Police Department

The City of Susanville is pleased to announce an employment opportunity within the City of Susanville’s Police Department for the part-time, unbenefited position of Community Services Officer (CSO). The CSO performs a variety of routine clerical, secretarial, administrative, animal control and field operations work in support of law enforcement activities for the Police Department.

Essential Duties include, but are not limited to: answering non-hazardous calls for service, obtaining information from parties at incident scenes and follow through on investigations, maintaining accurate records and write accurate incident and crime reports; providing general animal control services, maintaining records and files of animal related cases and logs all incidents concerning animal control activity, directing traffic as assigned, assisting in crime prevention, public education, and acts in collaboration with other community organizations, parking enforcement and vehicle abatement duties, collecting and assisting in packaging evidence at crime scenes as directed, assisting in maintaining property room, which could include packaging, labeling, logging, storing, releasing, and delivering evidence items to court and performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent GEO, no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history, must be able to read and write the English language, high school
diploma or GEO equivalent, some general office, communications or records management experience desirable, some experience in the care and handling of domestic animals desirable,
POST 832 PC Certificate must be obtained within six (6) months of employment and must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License.

Starting hourly rate of S13.69 per hour.
