JH Heating Weather Alert – NWS Winter Weather Advisory

Good morning everybody, here is a quick update on weather conditions including a Winter Weather Advisory that has been posted for our area.

A Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service will be in effect from 10:00a.m. this morning to 4:00P.M. Friday…

* Timing: today into Friday with the heaviest snow this afternoon and evening.

* Snow accumulations: west of Highway 395: 5 to 10 inches above 5500 feet and 2 to 5 inches below 5500 feet. East of Highway 395: 1 to 3 inches.

* Snow levels: rapidly falling this afternoon to all valley floors.

* Winds: southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph.

* Impacts: light to moderate snow will create hazardous travel conditions with chain controls possible. Gusty winds will result in blowing snow across roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

Snow is expected to pose an inconvenience to travelers and may greatly increase travel times. Roads will become slick and hazardous… with snow and ice first developing on bridges and overpasses. Motorists should slow down and use caution. Check our website at weather.Gov/Reno or listen to NOAA Weather Radio for updates on this situation.
