James Phillip McCormack – March 2020

James Phillip McCormack

James Phillip McCormack was born on July 30, 1940 to Violet and Edwin McCormack in San Francisco, California.

He attended Most Holy Redeemer Elementary School, St. Ignatius High, and USF. During high school, Jim worked for the San Francisco city library. In the summer, his family stayed at their home in Boys Spring where Jim worked with a master plumber.  After graduating from USF with a BA in Mathematics, Jim signed up for the Air Force. With his education, he became a Communications Electronics Staff Officer in the Air Force. During his service to our country, he received multiple medals, ribbons, and the Bronze Star. Jim was first stationed at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. where he met his wife, Mary Ann.

Jim and Mary Ann brought property at Eagle Lake when they were engaged and married. After Jim retired from the Air Force, they moved to Eagle Lake. Jim became a fire volunteer and was fire chief of the Eagle Lake Fire District and then the Stones-Bengard Community Service Fire District. He retired from the volunteer fire department after neck surgery, but kept volunteering at church where he played the piano for mass.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Cheryl and Carla; sister, Anne Kearney; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a graveside service on April 3, 2020 at 11 a.m.

Why Pre-plan?

Thinking about your own funeral leaves most people feeling a little uneasy, but more adults are finding that pre-planning a funeral offers great emotional and even financial security for them and their families. With pre-planning, families find comfort in knowing that the funeral reflects what their loved one wanted. It also gives them peace of mind to not have to make important decisions at a stressful time. Click here to visit Walton’s Funeral Home
