James Dexter Priest (1941-2020)
Jim was born to James and LoVada (Johnson) Priest on May 25, 1941 in Porterville, California. He passed away in his home in Auburn, CA on April 22, 2020 after many long battles with various health issues.
Husband to Mary (Leonesio) Priest for 57 years. Father to James Kendall Priest (Helen) and Mark Andrew Priest (Christina). Grandfather to James, Jacinta, Andrew and Sophie Priest. Older brother to Douglas (Jodie), Kenneth,Elizabeth Nicholson (Gabby) Preceding James in death are his parents and Brother Douglas.
Jim and family moved many times over the years as his father was with the Forest Service and they eventually moved to Susanville, CA. He graduated at LUHS class of 1960. He lived for a time and attended college in Oakland but eventually moved back to Porterville to run his Arco service station there and in Goshen, CA before moving to KS to start his mobile auto parts business in 1980. Six years later Jim and Mary moved back to CA to be near family and eventually both found jobs with the State of CA in Sacramento until retirement.
