Highway 44 Reopens to Traffic After Dixie Fire Threat Subsides

The Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol has announced that Highway 44, between County Road A-21 and State Route 89 at Old Station, has now been reopened to traffic.

The highway had been closed due to a threat from the Dixie Fire.

According to CHP Public Information Officer Bruce Thuelchassaigne, traffic control measures and a pilot car will be in place in Shasta County due to roadway hazards related to the fire.

Current roadway status can be found at the Caltrans website.
