A Herlong man was booked on multiple counts of Battery on a Police Officer Wednesday after two officers were injured trying to take him into custody in midtown Susanville.
Officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to Main Street, near McDow Street, after receiving reports of an ‘out of control person’ and identified 20-year old Gary Rock as the suspect who was thought to have vandalized a local business.
“While attempting his arrest, Rock became resistant and combative,” explains Police Chief Kevin Jones. “During his arrest he continually assaulted two SPD Officers who were injured, but eventually treated and released for their injuries.”
Rock was eventually booked and held at the Lassen County Jail for several felony charges, including battery on a Peace Officer.
“We are thankful our Officers did not sustain serious injuries. I am equally thankful of our District Attorney, Melyssa Riosās, continuing position of holding people accountable when they assault Peace Officers.”
