Henry ‘Hank’ Martinez Jr.

Henry “Hank” Martinez Jr. was born in Westwood CA to Enrique ‘Henry’ and Maurilia Preciado Martinez on June 30, 1931. He grew up in Westwood attending local schools.
He worked in the lumber mill while attending Lassen College and Chico State University where he earned a degree in General Secondary Education.

Hank taught school in Oakland for two years before returning to Lassen County where he worked for the U.S. Forest Service as an Engineering Technician for thirty-five years. During that time he served on the Susanville Elementary School Board for several terms. After his retirement from the Lassen National Forest, he taught engineering and architecture classes at Lassen Community College.

His passions were photography, trap shooting, World War II history and flying. He was a licensed pilot flying his beloved ‘Betsy’. Hank also loved telling stories about growing up in Westwood to anyone who would listen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe and sister Carmen. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Ginger and by his sons Tony and Shawn, his daughter in law Chelsea and two beautiful granddaughters Kirby Quinn and Baylee Brynn. At his request, there will be no services.

Why Pre-plan?

Thinking about your own funeral leaves most people feeling a little uneasy, but more adults are finding that pre-planning a funeral offers great emotional and even financial security for them and their families. With pre-planning, families find comfort in knowing that the funeral reflects what their loved one wanted. It also gives them peace of mind to not have to make important decisions at a stressful time. Click here to visit Walton’s Funeral Home
