Gary Lee Allen
Gary Lee Allen, 70, the most amazing man, husband, and friend died September 19, 2020 after complications from a pulmonary condition.
He was born July 2, 1950, in Joliet, IL and moved at the age of two with his family to Reno, Nevada. Gary was always a hard worker and at the age of 15 began working full time while also completing high school. He then served in the United States Marine Corp. In 1979 he moved to Susanville, CA where he was employed by the State of California as a correctional officer for 25 years. Gary married his best friend Caroline on September 5, 1992 in Susanville, where they lived happily for the next 27 years. In 2019 Gary and Caroline moved to SC to be closer to family there.
He had 6 siblings: Bob Allen, Steve Allen, Jim Allen, Betty Aston, Cheri Allen and Darlene Patterson. Gary was the proud father of Chad Allen, Pennie Bush, Christie Allen and Heather Skillen; proud stepfather of Coogan Mishler, Max Mishler, Pete Mishler, Nino Mishler and Jacob Keough-Mishler; twenty-four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A public memorial celebration of life will be held at 6pm Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Honey Lake Valley Assembly of God Church in Janesville, CA. The family will greet friends after the service.
