Firefighters Quickly Contain Fire in Monrovia Street Residence

Firefighters from the Susanville City Fire Department made quick work of a fire that started in a Monrovia Street residence on the evening of July 10th.

According to details released by the department, firefighters responded to a reported residential structure fire at #6 Monrovia Street at around 7:30 to find light smoke coming from the front-side window of the single-story residence.

Firefighting efforts contained the fire to the single room of origin and damage to the structure consisted of fire and smoke damage to the main living room and kitchen, with moderate damage to the contents inside the living room.

The fire was contained to the single unit and no damage to the other units. There were no occupants in the apartment at that time.

According to Battalion Chief Dan Weaver 5-fire apparatus and 22-firefighters were on scene to battle the blaze and no fire fighter injuries were reported.

“The owner of the complex was notified and all the other residents returned to their apartment and full utilities restored,” said Weaver. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Susanville Fire Department was assisted by Susan River Fire Protection District, Cal Fire, Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sherriff’s Office and LMUD.
