Fire and Police Respond to Meadowview For Accidental Fire Alarm Activation

Friday, December 14th, 2018

Susanville Fire and Police Departments responded to the Meadowview School for a fire alarm activation Friday morning according to details released by Susanville Police Chief Kevin Jones.

“On arrival it was discovered it was an accident – not a false pull,” explained Jones.

The fire department reset the alarm and all kids were returned to class.

“Had it been a real emergency,” said Chief Jones, “your kids were in great hands.”

“Meadowview staff did an incredible job of evacuating all kids to their designated areas. Great job Meadowview!”

What was different about this from any other “accidental/false” alarm? These type of things happen several times of year & I’ve never seen it reported as news worth. I am glad to hear that the evacuation went as planned, that’s what those monthly drills train them for. – khj

Hi Kathy! I think that after recent incidents where local schools were locked down for various reasons Chief Jones is making sure that when law enforcement or emergency responders are visible at a school, the community is made aware of why.
