Fairground Announces Light Festival Dates: You Can Be a Part of the Fun!

The Lassen County Fair is getting ready for their annual Holiday Light Festival – a brilliant display of lights at the fairgrounds created by local groups and organizations for people to drive through and enjoy. The amazing wonderland magically appears at the fairgrounds each year just in time for the holidays, with displays are expected to be bigger, brighter and more awe-inspiring than ever before.

The Fair will also feature a display of community decorated Christmas trees at the marquee on Main Street. The beautiful trees decorate the entrance of town, welcoming travelers throughout the holiday season.

Festival of Lights

All December long the Lassen County Fair will again be hosting its spectacular ‘Holiday Festival of Lights’ exhibition at the fairgrounds. This will be the 15th year for the holiday displays, built by different local groups, organizations and individuals for the public to drive through and ‘oooooh and ahhhhhhh’ at during the season.

How popular is the event? Last year on Christmas Eve more than 150 vehicles full of holiday revelers passed through the fairgrounds to see the lights.

Each season the displays at the festival grow larger and more complex.

Want to get involved? The fair is still looking for groups, organizations or individuals wanting to participate by putting up a display. The displays can include business advertisement, club endorsements or can just be a gorgeous holiday light display. Click here to download this year’s application.

Christmas Trees on Main Street

The Fair is looking for 8 businesses, civic groups, individuals, or families to decorate a 6-7 foot live tree that will be placed in each of the flag pole holes at the Fair Marquee on Main Street. Electricity will be provided for the lights, but each group will need to provide their own tree, lights and decorations.

The trees should be set up and decorated by December 1st. Each group is responsible for taking down their lights and decorations by the end of December. The Fair is not responsible for any lost or stolen items, or damage caused due to weather or persons not believing in the Christmas Spirit. Setup for Trees and Lights

If you cannot make any of these dates, or your need to be on grounds after 5pm, please contact the Fair Office to make arrangements. You will need lights, extension cords, and any other necessary items to put up your display. The Fairgrounds will provide tree stands.

Businesses, organizations and families are all invited to be a part of the Light Festival or the tree display. Entries in the uptown light parade are also being encouraged to bring their floats and take part in the annual light extravaganza.
