On Monday Lassen County Fair Manager Kaitlyn Downing announced winners of the fair’s annual Old Timer of the Year award, the Grand Marshal of the Fair Parade and Little Miss and Mister Lassen County. This year’s fair will run from July 21st to July 25th.
“The Old Timer of the Year award is judged on kindness and service to our community,” explains Downing. “The nominee has to be at least 60-years old and lived in Lassen County for at least 10-years.”
This 2021 Old Timer award goes to Robert and Delores Hemphill.
“This wonderful couple always helps with anything that needs to be done around the Lassen County Fairgrounds. They have volunteered with many 4-H and FFA events including the Junior Livestock Auction Sale. This couple helped build the original Honey Lake Valley Riders arena located at the Lassen County Fair Office. This couple happily raised four kids in Lassen County and are happy to call this county home!”
The Parade Grand Marshal award is a century old tradition based on accomplishments and contributions to the community.
“The 2021 award goes to Leno and Delight Callegari. They have been extremely involved in our local community for many years. They have been involved in our City Council, Public Safety Commission, ACCAP, Local Babe Ruth League, Kiwanis, Cub Scouts, Catechism for the Sacred Heart Church and much more. In recent years Lino and Delight are spending precious time with their children and enjoying their 10-grandchildren who bring them immense joy.”
This year’s Little Miss and Mister Lassen County contest was held on June 26th. Little Miss and Mister Lassen County have to be between the ages of seven and nine years old and are judged on their personality, confidence and friendliness during a play date and interview with the judges. This year Little Miss Lassen County is Gianna Foreman and Little Mister is Fletcher Thornton.
Little Princess is Audrey Edholm and Little Prince is Jayce Presswood.
