Extreme Flows on Feather River This Week as PG&E Tests New Controls

Water flows on the North Fork Feather River below Canyon Dam will increase and decrease between now and December 10th while Pacific Gas and Electric Company tests new controls on water gates at the dam.

PG&E will gradually increase, and decrease flows repeatedly. The higher flows will occur within the Canyon Dam Reach, a 10-mile stretch of the North Fork Feather River between the dam and the Belden Reservoir in Caribou in Plumas County.

PG&E advises those recreating near this portion of the river to exercise caution. Normal flows this time of year are about 40-50 cubic feet per second and will increase by a depth of about half a foot an hour until flows reach 800 cfs, then gradually be reduced.
