Early Morning Fire Destroys Garage on Hall Street

A garage on Hall Street was destroyed by an early morning fire Sunday, but firefighters managed to contain the blaze before it damaged adjacent structures according to details released today by the Susanville City Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched to a reported fire in the 100 block of Hall Street shortly after 6:00a.m., on August 5th, and arrived to find a fully-involved garage fire with vehicles and residential exposures threatened.

Quick and aggressive firefighting efforts extinguished the fire in the garage andĀ eliminated the threat to nearby structures.

According to the fire department’s report, the garage sustained heavy fire damage while the vehicles and portions of the residence near the garage suffered minor radiant heat damage.

There were no occupants in the garage at the time of the fire.

7 fire apparatus and 25 firefighters responded to battle the fire and no firefighterĀ injuries were reported. The residents were allowed to return to their house.

Susanville Fire Department was assisted by the following agencies: Susanville Police Department, Cal-Fire, Cal-OES, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Janesville Fire
Protection District and LMUD.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
