Dr. Bateson’s Weather Corner: Eagle Lake On The Rise

Sunday, May 1st, 2016

Pine Creek, on the west side of Eagle Lake, is roaring with water from the spring runoff

Dr. Bateson, Susanville’s resident meteorological expert, checks in with some great news about the water levels up at Eagle Lake.

“Eagle Lake has come up 3.24″ in the past 6 weeks and 25.26″ since Last November,” says Bateson. “It is now at 5092.7 feet and is 5.76″ higher than last year at this time.”

April rainfall totals at Bateson’s residence in Susanville were measured at 2.34″ of precipitation, which is 213% of average.

According to Bateson we are now at 26.27″ for the year to date since July first, which is 122% of average.

Taken last week this photo shows the south shore of Eagle Lake with the Marina in the distance and Gallatin Beach in the foreground.
