Lassen National Forest is closing the Bizz Johnson Trail from Devils Corral to Gomez Campground as a result of the Hog Fire, explaining that there are many hazard trees along the trail and the fire has destroyed two bridges on the Forest Service section of the trail, creating a myriad of safety issues.

“It is important to us that we alert the public about potential dangers to their well-being,” said Carol Thornton, District Ranger, Eagle Lake Ranger District. “We are monitoring the impacts and forming plans to restore access to the trail.”

The Hog Fire Closure Order will be active through October 31st, 2020.

The Hog Fire Closure Area boundary begins at the intersection of County Highway A21 and Highway 36, then continues north along Highway A21 to its intersection with the 101 Road, then continues northeast along the 101 Road to its intersection with Highway 44, then continues southeast along Highway 44 to its intersection with Highway 36, then continues west along Highway 36.

“As we continue to deal with the aftermath of the Hog Fire, we are conducting assessments to assure the public’s safety,” said Deb Bumpus, Forest Supervisor, LNF. “We want the public to be aware of these conditions and exercise caution when it comes to this impacted area.”
