COVID-19 Update: 186 Active Community Cases – High Desert Inmate Population Tops 700 Infections

A chart showing the number of active infections in the community over the last 30-days according to Lassen County Public Health. These numbers represent community members and do not include inmate populations at local prisons.

 

As of 5:00a.m. on Tuesday, November 24th, here are COVID-19 statistics being reported by local health officials.

Lassen County’s Public Health Department is reporting 186 active cases in the county with three people currently hospitalized. Two deaths have been attributed to the infection and so far there have been a total of 361 cases reported.

Infections at Local Prisons

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is reporting 705 active cases of COVID-19 among the inmate population at High Desert State Prison.

According to the CDCR COVID tracker High Desert now has more infections than any other prison in the state.

The number of infections at the California Correctional Center has grown from 4 to 27 in the last week. You can follow this link to CDCR’s inmate population tracker.

According to numbers updated by CDCR on Friday there are 77 staff members at High Desert and 17 at CCC with active cases of COVID-19. Staff numbers will be updated by the state this Friday.

FCI Herlong is reporting 11 active cases.
