Clifford L. Denton
Clifford L. Denton passed away at his Doyle California home of 40 years on January 31, 2014. He was 79 years old. Mr. Denton is survived by his daughter Anna (Victor) Betancourt of Rocklin CA and by his daughter Rebecca Denton of San Francisco CA; grandchildren, Emmy (Alex) Villalobos and Tony Betancourt; great grandchildren, Christian and Xavier Villalobos, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Denton was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Ina Denton, brothers, Willard Jr., Albert and Richard and sister Betty Reidy and his granddaughter Christiana Betancourt.
Mr. Denton was born in Inglewood California on July 11, 1934. He attended EI Monte High School and played the trumpet in the marching band. He attended Pierce’ Junior College in Canoga Park and majored in Agriculture. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957 as a medic and was stationed in LaSalle France. After his Army service he drove an ambulance in the Presidio of S.F. with his brother Albert and then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago majoring in music. He loved to sing and had a beautiful high baritone voice. Eventually he returned to the medical field and practiced as a LVN in California.
Mr. Denton had a passion for horses and living an independent life in the high desert. He especially loved quarter horses and wild mustangs and rescued many in the 40 years he lived in Doyle California. Next to his family, his horses meant the world to him.
He will forever be remembered and dearly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Denton’s memorial service will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno Nevada on February 28, 2014 at 2PM (Reverence Chapel inside of the mausoleum). He will then be laid to rest with his 2 brothers, sister and parents.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
