City to Shut Down Parts of Susanville Water System for Upgrades December 29th

Potential area of water service interruption beginning at 8:00a.m. on December 29th

Some residents in the western part of Susanville are facing a short, planned water-outage on December 29th, as crews from the City’s Public Works Department replace and upgrade a watermain under Harris Drive.

The critical section of old steel watermain will be replaced with a new ductile iron watermain.

The system is being shut down to switch over to the new installation at 8:00a.m. and the job is expected to take up to six hours.

The existing watermain serves a significant portion of the west side of town. Customers who are in the area east of Harris Drive but west of Grand Avenue/Richmond Road; and south of Skyline Drive but north of South Street may experience an interruption of service.

Customers at higher elevations, in uptown and the Pine Street and Harris Drive areas will be the most impacted.

According to the City, completing this work in the winter, when water demand is low, minimizes the impacts to our customers and greatly improves the City’s aging infrastructure.

Please contact (530) 257-1041 if you have questions about the water outage.
