City Clarifies Enforcement of State’s COVID-19 ‘Limited Stay at Home Order’

Susanville City Administrator and Police Chief Kevin Jones has released a brief statement regarding our county’s elevation into the ‘Purple Tier’ of the state’s COVID-19 recovery plan and the city’s response to the mandated curfew.

“Part of Mr. Newsome’s order is a ‘limited stay at home order,’ curfew that restricts non-essential work, movement and gatherings from 10:00p.m. to 5:00a.m.,” explained Jones, “However, the Susanville Police Department will not be determining compliance with, or enforcing the compliance of, any health order related to this curfew.”

Jones said that the Police Department would not prevent Thanksgiving activities, maximum occupancies or mask wearing mandates at social gatherings within the City of Susanville.

“We recognize the increase of COVID cases in the last several weeks and respect the precautions put in place by the health agencies. I would like our community to be precautious and respectful of other businesses and people’s wishes on protecting each other during this pandemic.”

“I thank you all as we try to push through this incredibly challenging time in our current climate.”
