Christmas Tree Permits are ‘Mail Only’ This Year Due to COVID-19

Lassen National Forest is advising folks looking to cut down a Christmas tree on the forest that this year sales of Christmas tree permits will be by mail only. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, the Forest Service offices remain closed.

This includes the Old Station Visitor Center on the Hat Creek Ranger District which, unlike past years, will not be staffed to sell Christmas tree permits.

The Shasta-Trinity National Forest will no longer be selling permits for Christmas trees to be cut on the LNF.

“We are excited about sharing the changes to our Christmas tree program,” said Lassen Forest Supervisor Deb Bumpus. “It is essential that everyone is aware that only permits sold by the LNF will be valid on the Forest.”

If you would like to cut a Christmas tree on the LNF, send your request for a Christmas tree permit along with a check for $10.00 to one of the following locations:

• Almanor Ranger District, 900 E. Hwy 36, P.O. Box 767, Chester CA 96020
• Eagle Lake Ranger District, 477-050 Eagle Lake Road, Susanville, CA 96130
• Hat Creek Ranger District, 43225 E. Hwy 299, P.O. Box 220, Fall River Mills, CA 96028
• Supervisor’s Office, 2550 Riverside Drive, Susanville, CA 96130

For your convenience, an order form is available on the Lassen National Forest website.
