CHP Incident: Motorcyclist Killed in Highway 395 Collision Near Wendel

A motorcyclist, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, suffered fatal injuries Sunday afternoon when his bike overturned near Wendel Road on Highway 395.

At around 3:30p.m., according to the report from the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist, traveling alone, was driving north on the highway when for reasons yet to be determined, he drove onto the dirt shoulder and down an embankment.

At the bottom of the embankment, the motorcycle overturned, ejecting the rider.

A passing motorist stopped a short time later to render aid to the rider and Standish/Litchfield Fire department, CCC Correctional Fire Department, PHI Air Ambulance, Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and CHP all responded to the scene.

Despite the efforts made by the good samaritan and first responders, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
