CHP Incident: Marysville Man Killed in Highway 32 Collision

A 20-year old Marysville man, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was killed Tuesday in a single-vehicle collision on Highway 32.

According to the CHP report the man was driving his Silver 350Z westbound on SR-32 at an unknown speed just before 8:00a.m. and had just driven through a Cal-Trans closure with one lane traffic control.

The driver continued at an unknown high rate of speed through a left hand corner and, as he entered the turn, the right side tires traveled off the roadway onto the dirt shoulder.

The driver turned to the left but lost control, skidding off the left side of the road and off a steep embankment.

The vehicle became airborne before hitting a large conifer tree with its roof, trapping the driver inside.

A passerby observed the vehicle and notified a CHP officer working in the road closure. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and extricated the driver from the vehicle.

“Sadly, the driver received fatal injuries as a result of the collision,” said Susanville CHP Office Public Information Officer Kristin Wilburn.

The accident is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident, can contact the Susanville CHP at 530-252-1800.
