A 23-year old Chester resident was killed early Wednesday morning when the snowmobile he was riding crashed into a metal gate, according to details released by the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol.
Shortly after midnight the driver of a 2003 Bombardier Ski-Doo snowmobile, identified by the CHP as Dylan Walker Crain, was driving across private property at an unknown rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, he drove the snowmobile into a metal gate and was ejected from the machine as it went under.
He sustained major injuries from the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision is under investigation according to the CHP.
