Chili and Salsa Judging Results from the 2018 Rails to Trails Festival

Black Beards Delight took home both Best Decorated Booth and the award for People’s Choice Chili

Lassen Land and Trails Trust has announced the official winner’s list from the chili cook-off and salsa-making competition at this year’s Rails to Trails Festival held on October 6th.

The Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol took first place in the Judged Traditional chili category, with top prize in the Non-Traditional chili going to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church’s ‘Devil’s Delight’ chili.

Top salsa winner this year was created by the Tractor Supply Company team.

Visitors to the festival got a chance to vote for their favorite with the People’s Choice Chili award going to ‘Black Beard’s Delight.’

The team from the Tractor Supply Company also received the People’s Choice award in the salsa category.

The award for Best Decorated Booth went to the ‘Black Beard’s Delight’ chili booth.

Event organizer Amy Holmen, from Lassen Land and Trails Trust, thanked this year’s sponsors who include Billington Ace Hardware, Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel, Susanville Grocery Outlet, Lassen Ale Works, Les Schwab, Every Bloomin’ Thing, Impact Construction, JDX/KSUE Radio, Bottle & Brush Art Bar, Pregill Insurance, C&S Waste Solutions and Dr. Northrup, DDS.
