Ed Swayze, 2012 Chamber President
I am Ed Swayze and I will be serving as president of the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce for 2012.
My wife and I own and operate Customer Talk Printable Merchandise in Susanville. This will be our fifth year in business. We have 3 children ages 3, 12, and 13.
The older boys both attend Janesville School and are actively involved in sports, Boy Scouts, and 4-H.
Our family has lived in Lassen County for 15 years and we enjoy the outdoor recreation and small town atmosphere. Lassen County is the perfect place to raise our children.
As president, I look forward to working with our members to continue the growth and improvement of our business community. I would like to reach out to all Lassen County businesses including micro-enterprises and home-based businesses whose growth will help to fill empty retail spaces creating a more welcoming atmosphere.
I would also like to increase member participation in the planning of events such as the Spring Home, Garden and Outdoor Recreation Show, Main Street Cruise, Fair Parade and Magical Country Christmas.
These events offer Chamber members the opportunity to contribute their talent and insights for the betterment of our community and keep the Chamber growing.
The Chamber gives businesses a voice in local government and I would like to see that continue as well as the “Think Local First” campaign which encourages residents to shop locally.
I am looking forward to working with the dedicated board of directors and staff along with Chamber Members as we work together to meet the needs of the business community.
I would like to close by saying that I applaud the fortitude of all the businesses in Lassen County who have withstood the economic challenges of the last few years. I believe that if we continue to stick together as a community and support each other, we will see a year of growth and economic improvement.
