Chamber of Commerce Update for December 27th, 2011

by Chuck Downs
2011 Chamber President

As 2011 comes to an end, I am amazed on how fast this year has gone by.

During these difficult economic times it is vital that we, as a community, pull together and help each other out.

As business owners we need to do our best to offer outstanding customer service as well as the valued products that our local customers want to encourage shopping locally.

Doing this will help keep our money working locally, build sales, and profits in our businesses.

In looking back over the year, on how we at the Chamber have done, I am proud to say that 2011 has been a year of success.

Our Home, Garden, and Outdoor Recreation Show had a record amount of participants and was well attended.

The Main Street Cruise Classic Car Show was a huge success and we were able to team up with other local organizations to bring the event to the community.

For the first time ever, we coordinated the Diamond Mountain Balloon Race, and thanks to all the event sponsors and committee, it exceeded our expectations.

The monthly Chamber Mixers continue to have great turn-outs. Thanks to the many businesses that have hosted these events.

We ended the year with the Magical Country Christmas Celebration which brought the community together to celebrate the official start of the Christmas season.

I have been honoredĀ to serve as your 2011 Chamber president. I have never met a better group of people then those I serve with on the Chamber board. This group of tireless volunteers donates their time and money to help promote business in Lassen County.

I would like to thank our office staff for their hard work that keeps the Chamber office operating like a well oiled machine.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank the many volunteers for their help at our mixers and other events. I look forward to 2012 and the new President, Ed Swayzeā€™s, leadership as he takes the Chamber to the next level.
