Candidate Filing Period Extended for Two Lassen County Races

Sunday, March 11th, 2018

Lassen County’s Clerk-Recorder Julie Bustamante announced Friday that the filing deadlines for two races on the June 5th ballot have been extended because incumbents did not file by the close of the filing period

According to Bustamante the deadline to file a Declaration of Candidacy has been extended to Wednesday, March 14th, 2018, at 5:00p.m. for the positions of Lassen County Assessor and Lassen County District Attorney. Incumbents are not eligible to file during this extended filing period.

Any person, other than the incumbent, wishing to file can do so at the County Clerk’s office in the Historic Courthouse at 220 S. Lassen St, Suite 5, Susanville. More information is available at the clerk’s office.

The California Elections Code requires all candidates for public office in California to be registered voters and otherwise qualified to vote for the office they are seeking at the time their nomination papers are issued. The constitutional requirements to be a registered voter are that a person must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, not in prison or on parole for the conviction of a felony and not determined by a court of law to be mentally incompetent.

To qualify for the District Attorney’s race you must also have been admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the State of California.
