A Burney man was taken to Banner Lassen with minor injuries Thursday after his company truck overturned on Highway 44 near the Bogard Rest Area.

On September 9th, shortly before 6:00a.m., the driver, identified by the CHP as 24-year old Burney resident Gregory Rambo, was driving his company’s 1997 Ford service truck eastbound on his way to Susanville, when according to the report he fell asleep, causing the truck to travel across the westbound lane and into the wooded forest.

Rambo’s truck overturned approximately 60-feet from the roadway.

“Rambo was able to self-extricate himself and make it to the road where a passing Cal-Fire truck stopped to assist him,” explained CHP Public Information Officer Bruce Thuelchassaigne. “Rambo was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center for injuries sustained in the collision.”

The CHP report points out that Rambo was wearing his seatbelt, which they say likely kept him from further injury. They also note that alcohol and drugs were not a factor in this collision.
