Breaking News: Vehicle Fire On Highway 139 at Antelope Grade

4:48 p.m. Update The vehicle fire has been extinguished and Highway 139 has been reopened to traffic, however motorists are cautioned to watch for emergency vehicles and crews still in the immediate area of the fire.

This will end our continuous coverage of a breaking news event. -jc


4:35p.m. Emergency crews are on-scene at a vehicle fire about 1 mile north of Banner Lassen Medical Center on Highway 139.

Smoke and flames, which had fully engulfed the vehicle when first responders arrived, could be seen from the Susanville area.

According to Lassen OES Chief Eric Ewing there is no extension of the fire into vegetation.

Highway 139 is open with piloted traffic in the area of the vehicle fire.

Agencies on-scene include Cal-Fire, Bureau of Land Management, Susan River Fire and Lassen OES.

This is a developing story and new information will be included as it becomes available.
