Blue Star Moms Holding Care Package Packing Party for Local Military

On June 18th the Susanville Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms will be having a packing party to put together care packages for our locally enlisted military and the group is looking for donations to fill the boxes. If you would like to donate you can drop items off at the radio station, the recruiters office, the Veterans Hall or call 310-2875 to arrange a pick up.

“Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus we are unable to have volunteers help with putting the care packages together at this time,” explains organizer Christy Rose.

Wondering what to donate for the care packages? According to Rose the deployed and stateside men and women love snacks like jerky, candy, cookies, nuts, top ramen and gum.

They can also use toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, soaps and razors, along with books, card games and magazines for entertainment.

“They love getting cards and letters,” says Rose. “Things to remind them of home and Susanville.”

“We send to deployed and stateside, and men and women. We just like to send a little bit of Susanville to them wherever they are.”
