Lois Marie Turek – July 3, 2021

Lois Marie Turek

In loving memory of Lois Marie Turek beloved daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.  She passed away at Eagle Lake Village Assisted Living Community in Susanville, California on July 3, 2021 at the age of 92.

She was born May 7, 1929 in Ulysses, Nebraska, where she grew up on a farm with her parents Leland and Mamie Smith and her two sisters Velma and Maxine.  As a child, she loved to read books and her mother was always telling her to get her nose out of her book.  After high school she went to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and obtained a teaching certificate.  She was married in Central City, Nebraska to Raymond William Turek on May 20, 1949.  Together they had 3 children Raymond Jr., Kathy and Roxie and made their home in Sidney, Nebraska until 1964 when they moved to Herlong, California.  Lois worked at Sierra Army Depot where she started as a clerk in personnel and worked her way up to Division Chief in Headquarters.  Lois and Raymond enjoyed taking their family camping in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter.  They retired in 1982 and moved to Spalding, Eagle Lake, California in a home that they built together.  Lois was interested in researching the family genealogy and loved cooking for her family who visited often.

She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond of 65 years, sisters Velma Glantz, Maxine Withem, and great-granddaughter Paige Van Ornum.  She is survived by her son Raymond Turek Jr., daughter-in-law, Theresa (Baros) Turek, from Herlong; daughter’s Kathleen (Turek) Maxwell, and son-in-law Rick Maxwell, from Sparks, Nevada, Roxanna (Turek) Moore and son-in-law, Edward Moore, from Wheatland, California; seven grandchildren Chris and Jesse Turek, Monica (Turek) Utter, Joshua Maxwell, Amanda (Maxwell) Van Ornum, Jason Moore, and Kimberly (Moore) Brooke; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed.

God Bless you. For if we live, we live to the Lord.  Or if we die, we die to the Lord,  If therefore we live or die, we are the Lord’s (Romans 14:8)
