8th Annual Walk-A-Mile Event Happens Tomorrow at the Fairgrounds

Lassen Family Service’s 8th annual Walk-A-Mile event, a mile-long color walk around the Diamond Mountain Speedway to support survivors of sexual assault and child abuse, will be held this Saturday, April 24th at the Lassen County Fairgrounds.

LFS hosts the event annually at the end of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week to make the community aware of the prevalence of these crimes and to provide information on the support services offered in Lassen County.

Registration for the walk starts at 9:00a.m., and the Color Guard will begin the ceremony at 10:00, followed by speakers including Elizabeth Darley, Mendy Schuster, Tiffany Sherman, Angela Reed, Heather Roney and Peggy Vaquera.

After a brief presentation of awards the Walk-A-Mile will get underway at 11:00.

At 11:45 there will be a color powder toss after which everyone is invited to explore the booths around the fairgrounds.

Masks and hand sanitizer will be available to the public.
