Check Received by Fair Group
February 9th, 1947

The receipt of a check for $65,000 by the Lassen County Livestock show from taxes on the state supervised thoroughbred racing industry was announced last week.

Abe Jensen, fair manager, said the funds actually represented vastly more than $65,000 in new wealth for this area, because such money is used as prizes, to inspire growing, and making better products for display at the fair.

The fund also is employed for capital investment to build up the fair grounds damaged by military use, or neglected during war years. It also will be used for a five-year development of the fair grounds for a year-round public use, after solution of the national housing shortage and provided, continuation of the funds is assured.
