Youth Invited to Participate in Great Sierra Nevada River Clean-Up

GSRC2015

Join the Lassen County Environmental Education CollaborativeĀ on Saturday, September 19th for the Great Sierra Nevada River Cleanup and National Public Lands Day.

This adventure for students in seventh through twelfth grades will begin with litter removal from the Susan River, next to the Bizz Johnson and South Side Trail at Devilā€™s Corral. In the afternoon participants will move up the trail for citizen-fueled maintenance of our public lands, working alongside Lassen National Forest and BLM Eagle Lake Field Office resource professionals.

This youth-focused event will be occurring prior to the Bizz Johnson Marathon, a Boston Marathon qualifier that has drawn thousands of runners to Susanville over the past decade.

In addition to providing a service to the larger community, participants will have a chance to get outside, have fun and learn about recreation management beside professionals in the field.Ā  Parents are encouraged to join.

Scouting and educational groups are welcome. To register and for more information on appropriate attire and necessary supplies, please contact Jessie Diermier at (530) 257-3252 or [email protected].

This event is a program of the LCEEC, a partnership between the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office, Lassen National Forest, the Lassen County Office of Education and Lassen Land and Trails Trust.Ā  For more information about the Collaborative, the Trust, their work or about trails to enjoy, please visit www.lassenlandandtrailstrust.org.
