The Wildland Firefighter Foundation will be holding a special benefit showing of the Disney movie Planes: Fire and Rescue at the Sierra Theatre in Uptown Susanville today at 11:00a.m. Money raised by the foundation’s special event will be distributed to fallen and injured firefighters.

“This fundraiser will not only be a great way to help raise funds and awareness for the foundation,” said event organizer Chris Bunker, “but it is a great way to have the fire community, friends, family and supporters come together.”

“The event will also help show our local wildland firefighters and families how much we appreciate everything they do!”

Admission to the special showing is $6 and the foundation will be holding a raffle before the event.

“We have had such a great response from the merchants I cant thank them enough,” said Bunker.

Local businesses contributing to the benefit include Sierra Theatre, Billington Ace Hardware, Engine 55 Modoc National Forest, Johnson’s shoes, Margie’s Book Nook, U.S. Bank, Lassen Ale works at the Pioneer, Hair and Nails by Jess and The UPS Store. You can swing by the theatre and grab a raffle ticket even if you don’t have time to take in the movie.

Bunker encouraged fire families to wear their favorite Crew shirts to the event. “If you got ’em wear ’em… It will be fun to see all the different agencies represented.”

Doors open at 10:15 this morning at the Sierra Theatre, the movie will begin at 11:00. Come on by and help a great cause!
