Two people were arrested late Friday night during a traffic stop by the Susanville Police Department, which led to a narcotics search at a local motel and netted officers a cache of drugs including heroin which had been packaged for sale.
According to details released by the Susanville Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Safeway parking lot late Friday night and arrested two people, identified by the department as Brenda Vasquez and Cody Rogers.
Circumstances surrounding the traffic stop led police, along with Deputies from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, to execute a narcotics search warrant at the Apple Inn Motel on Main Street in the early morning hours of June 9th.
“During the search investigators located 50 balloons of pre-packaged heroin for sales, miscellaneous opiate pills, Suboxone, digital scales, packaging material, pay-owe-sheets and a loaded 9mm handgun,” Interim Chief of Police Kelley Merritt said in the press release. “Additional charges were then added to Vasquez and Rogers.”
Brenda Vasquez was arrested for a No Bail Warrant out of Reno; Lassen County Warrant; Accessory; Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale; Felon in Possession of Ammunition; and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Vasquez is currently in custody at the Lassen County Jail and is being held without bail due to the Nevada Warrant.
Cody Rogers was arrested for Transportation of a Controlled Substance for Sale; Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale; Accessory; Felon in Possession of Ammunition; and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Rogers is also currently in custody at the Lassen County Jail and is being held on $42,500 bail.
