To Your Health: Banner Lassen’s Outpatient and Oncology Center

During a time of illness, it is always helpful to be close to home and to people that you know. The Outpatient Infusion and Oncology Support Center at Banner Lassen Medical Center is available to meet the special needs of their patients through quality care right here at home.

The center is staffed entirely by Registered Nurses who are chemotherapy trained, specialize in IV therapy and work closely with specialists out of the area to provide the care prescribed by primary physicians and oncologists in the surrounding areas.

“We know that familiarity is important during this time,” explains Infusion Center RN Jeri Valdez, “and we want to make your visits with us as comfortable as possible.”

The center has a relaxed atmosphere, with comfortable recliners and televisions, and is open for appointments Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Special attempts are made to meet individual patient needs and appointments can be made by calling 530-252-2065.  If you have questions, you can call the Infusion Center directly at 252-2620.  If you need to leave a message, know they will return your call as soon as possible.

The important pharmaceuticals that can be administered here in Susanville include Neupogen, Procrit and Neulasta which, according to Valdez, are three medications used to stimulate the bone marrow to produce white cells or red cells for cancer or kidney patients, respectively.  Many kinds of outpatient chemotherapy medications can be administered here, as well as intravenous antibiotics, IV hydration,  and medication for multiple sclerosis.

The Infusion center also can and does administer blood and blood products. They change Foley catheters and do wound care with doctors’ orders.

“Being close to home and with your family is one of the greatest benefits you receive at the Outpatient Infusion and Oncology Support Center at Banner Lassen Medical Center,” said Valdez. “We strive to make your surroundings comfortable and convenient when you visit the center.”

Ask your physician today if your needs can be met on an out-patient basis.

Banner Lassen Medical Center Outpatient Infusion and Oncology Support Center is located at 1800 Spring Ridge Drive in Susanville.
