Susanville Soroptimists Help Send Lassen College Nurses On Humanitarian Trip to Belize

The Susanville chapter of Soroptimists International have made a generous contribution to help send a group of nurses from the Lassen College Vocational Nursing program to a small central America nation on a humanitarian mission in June.

Soroptimist President Sharon McBride presented a $1,657 check to the nurses at the organization’s November 14th meeting, which will partially fund the trip to the country of Belize for 6 students and 2 instructors.

Lassen Nursing Director Christi Myers, who was on-hand to accept the check along with two of her students said, “I am so excited to be taking such an bright group of nurses to provide healthcare in an area in need.”

Fundraising for the Belize trip is ongoing and contributions may be sent to the Lassen College Vocational Nursing program at P.O. Box 3000 in Susanville.

Nursing Open House
Lassen’s nursing program will be hosting a community open house to share their new Nursing and Allied Health Center next Tuesday, December 5th, from 5:30 to 8:30p.m., in Creative Arts 113 at the college’s campus on Highway 139.

Members of Lassen College’s 2017 Licensed Vocational Nursing Cohort will be graduated at a traditional pinning ceremony on Friday December 8th at 5:30p.m.

The ceremony will be held at the Community Church, 1400 Numa Road in Susanville and the public is welcome. Doors open at 5:00p.m.
