Storm Impacts Delay Opening of Two Campgrounds for Fishing Season Opener

Due to impacts sustained from previous harsh winter storms, both the Cherry Hill Campground and Butte Meadows Campground, located on the Humboldt Road, will not open as planned this Friday, April 28th.

The late snow melt, heavy runoff and hazard tree removal has negatively impacted the condition of campground roads and spurs and increased the amount of work needed to get the campgrounds safely operational. Seasonal crews will begin cleanup work in those campgrounds next week.

Potato Patch, Alder and Elam Campgrounds are will be open by this Friday, for opening day of fishing season.

Potato Patch and Elam Campgrounds have drinking water, vault toilets and trash service. Alder campground has vault toilets and trash service. All three campgrounds are situated along beautiful Deer Creek, known for its fishing.

For the most updated campground Information contact the Almanor Ranger District Office at (530) 258-2141.
