Despite the cold weather Tuesday it was a beautiful day to celebrate those members of our armed forces who are with us, and to remember those who aren’t.
There was a huge turnout of Susanville residents yesterday, lining Main Street, and cheering on members of our nation’s military.
Susanville’s Veterans Day parade started at the armory on Russell Avenue and worked its way up to the Veteran’s Memorial Hall.

Participating in the parade were dozens of local civic groups, youth organizations and law enforcement personnel. Once indoors at the Veteran’s Hall the crowd was treated to a spectacular performance of our National Anthem as sung by Lassen High School’s Choral department.

Proclamations were made by Mayor Kurt Bonham, Supervisor Jack Hanson and the Susanville Soroptimists presented a ceremonial flag from last year’s visit of the Travelling Memorial Wall.
The LHS band, after marching the parade route, performed a medley of armed forces theme songs. While themes were played veterans from each branch stood to be recognized.
