Lassen Arsenal, the Lassen Youth Soccer U-14 Girls Traveling Team, played their first game of the fall season at Redding Soccer Park on Sat. Redding Fire struck first with an early goal. However, Lassen gained composure, made a few adjustments and began to string a few passes together. The defense began to contain Redding’s attack, in an effort led goalie Brittney Patton. The offense took a little pressure off by controlling the midfield. Finally Kristen Zamora scored the equalizer after a nice build-up from the defense. Shortly after, Paige Martin hit a well-placed shot over the goalie and under the crossbar to go up 2-1. Amber Jackson scored the third goal of the game, and later gave a beautiful cross to Shannon Ferrall, who finished with a nice left-footed volley. Lassen beat the Redding Fire 4-1. Their next two games will be at home, at Riverside Park, September 6 at 12:30 pm and September 13 at 2:00 pm. Lassen Youth Soccer is sponsoring 4 travel soccer teams who play home games at Riverside Park on Saturdays through October.
