Sheriff’s Office Update: Human Remains Found in Herlong Residence

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has released details surrounding the discovery of human remains in a residence in Herlong July 15th.

According to Sheriff Dean Growdon, Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance in the south-county town and while investigating located human remains inside a residence on Tamarack Street.

“The remains appeared to have been in the residence for an extended period of time,” said Growdon. “Based on information obtained during the investigation the remains are believed to be those of Vivian Foreman who was born in 1923.”

Vivian Foreman’s son, 62-year old Charles Wilbanks, was present and residing at Foreman’s residence. He was found to be in immediate need of medical attention and was transported from the residence by ambulance.

The remains have been taken to the Washoe Regional Medical Examiner’s Office for post-mortem and forensic examination.

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating this case and anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to call the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office at (530)257-6121.
