Police and Fire Fighters Compete in 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive

Sunday, July 16th, 2017

United Blood Services is partnering with local community heroes for the third annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive at the LDS Church, 905 Richmond Road, July 18th and 19th. All donors will receive a custom Battle T-Shirt and will get a chance to enter to win a Harley-Davidson Iron 883.

Since 2015, when the event began, over 200 life-saving pints have been collected each year. The team that recruits the most blood donors during the event will receive a trophy and bragging rights. This year United Blood Services hopes to collect over 250 pints of blood during the two-day competition.

“Summer is typically a slower season for blood donations, but the need for blood never goes away. Those patients who need blood must rely on volunteers to ensure they will get the blood they need,” said Alma Webb, Donor Recruitment Representative, UBS.  “With the involvement of emergency responders, we hope more people will understand the ongoing need for blood and the impact they have on others when they give.”

The Battle of the Badges blood drive competition allows donors to choose which organization they want to donate blood on behalf of; Team Law or Team Fire. Join United Blood Services and emergency responders in an effort to save lives on and off the job.

To donate blood, volunteers must be at least 16 years old (16 year old donors need minor donor permits which are available at the blood drive), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health.

Donors can now make their appointment faster by filling out their Health History Questionnaire online at the day of their appointment and printing off their Fast Track Donation ticket.

The Battle of the Badges Blood Drive will be held July 18th from 12:00 to 6:00p.m., and July 19th from 8:30a.m. to 2:00p.m.

If we could have a moment of your time...

In the last 15 years SusanvilleStuff has become Lassen County's most influential media source with an average of 21,000 people visiting and reading stories about our little corner of the world each week.

SusanvilleStuff is our area's only locally owned news and information source and our commitment is to our friends and neighbors, with the goal of creating the best, all-around, most reliable content, while at the same time highlighting what makes Susanville and Lassen County so incredibly unique.

Why We Need Reader Support
Our independent, local coverage takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. While we make most of our money from advertising revenues, these days those can only go so far to support what we do. Every dollar our readers contribute goes towards making SusanvilleStuff a stronger voice in the community with better, more comprehensive content. We increasingly need the help of our readers to support us with either a voluntary subscription or a one-time contribution.

You don't have to subscribe to SusanvilleStuff, but we will be incredibly thankful if you do!
