The Lassen National Forest's Heritage Resources program is sponsoring a 'Passport in Time' project on Pine Creek near Eagle Lake. The program is designed to increase public awareness and participation in heritage resource projects.
This archaeological dig is a test excavation, searching for important clues about the Apwaruge Indians who lived in the area. Volunteers at the project spend the day using scientific methods to recover data from excavation units. The dirt is then screened and the artifacts and remains are sorted, identified and described.
