“Conserve and Protect, Planet Before Profit, Climate Change is Not a Hoax!” A group of local citizens concerned for our local and global well-being marched through the heart of Susanville Saturday, picking up litter to recycle and spreading their Earth Day messages on placards and signs.
The conservation-minded individuals spread out around Main Street and North Street cleaning up refuse and meeting up back at Memorial Park for a barbecue.
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, according to Wikipedia, there are now Earth Day events in more than 193 countries.
