One Dead in Violent Forest Chase

Plumas County authorities say a man accused of shooting three people, who were allegedly stealing solar lawn decorations from his Janesville home, will likely face homicide charges after one of the shooting victims died Monday from wounds sustained in the incident.

Plumas County Sheriff Gregory Hagwood said Monday that 36 year old Gregory Wallen-Reed (pictured right) gave chase along backroads near Antelope Lake after occupants of the car left his yard.

According to officials, Wallen-Reed saw someone in the blue sedan fire a weapon, prompting him to return fire, hitting three of the six individuals. The car then left the roadway causing minor injuries to the other three occupants.

According to the Associated Press, Wallen-Reed was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

The Sacramento Bee reports that one of the shooting victims, Rory McGuire of Susanville, died Monday at a Reno hospital.
