Office of Education Offering Coding and 3D Modeling Workshop This Weekend

Lassen County Office of Education will be hosting a two-day workshop teaching local students the art and science of computer coding, along with skills needed for 3D modeling this weekend. The camp, run by NCLab is designed for students age 10 to 15 who want learn to build with 3D modeling, master computational thinking and problem solving with Karel the Robot and learn coding through art with Tina Turtle.

NCLab will teach students step by step in self-paced, self-guided courses. At the camp, you will have the opportunity to work with NCLab instructors and then continue at home on your own computer.

The weekend event includes two days of game-based learning, both on and off the computer, with a one-year license to NCLab courses in programming and 3D Modeling. Computers and all materials will be provided for the camp along with snacks and lunch.

Why coding? In the 21st century, information technology is in every field. Coding and 3D modeling are job skills by themselves, but they also teach logical and visual spatial reasoning.

Classes will be held this Saturday, April 1st, and Sunday, April 2nd, from 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m., at Richmond School, 700–585 Richmond Road.

To register for the camp contact James Giles by email at [email protected] or by phone at 424-282-5672.

The cost of the two-day workshop is $50 per person. Click here to download the event flyer.
