NWS Weather Bulletin: Snow Expected Wednesday and Thursday

Forecasters at the National Weather Service’s Reno office are expecting snow to fall in Susanville and the Honey Lake Valley this Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the NWS Winter Weather Advisory, which will be in effect from noon on Wednesday until 10:00a.m., Thursday, total snow accumulations west of Highway 395 will be 3 to 6 inches with localized amounts up to 10 inches. East of Highway 395 up to 2 inches is expected.

The heaviest snow is most likely between 3:00p.m., and midnight on Wednesday. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times with gusty winds producing areas of blowing snow.

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since it takes longer to stop on slick roadways. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
